明知渓谷は、京畿道で 2 番目に高い山、明知山 (標高 1,267 m) の頂上から東に伸びています。渓谷の入り口にはレストランや公衆トイレ、宿泊施設などの便利な施設が揃っています。渓谷自体では、きれいな水が岩の上を勢いよく流れ落ちています。渓谷の入り口の両側には森林が並び、小道が承天寺へと続いています。渓谷の入り口から歩いて1時間近くのところにある明知ポクポ滝は、高さわずか7～8メートルですが、秋には非常に美しい滝です。
