2001년 개관한 안산식물원은 3개관으로 구성됐다. 제1홀(382.81㎡)은 야자수를 포함해 98종의 식물이 자라고 있는 열대 정원이다. 제2관(846㎡)에는 붓꽃 등 화훼류 11과 177종을 전시하고 있다. 제3관(846㎡)에는 습지식물 4과 177종을 전시하고 있다. 외부 정원에는 장미원, 과수원, 자생식물원, 식물계승원, 모모연꽃 등 총 46그루의 식물이 자라고 있는 연못이 있다. 식물원에는 안산시의 자랑거리인 피라미드 형태의 현대식 온실이 있다. 공원은 성호공원과도 연결되어 있다.
