기록에 따르면 이곳에서는 조선초기부터 도자기를 만드는 데 사용되는 최고의 재료인 점토, 백토, 고령토 등이 북내면 싸리산 주변에서 생산되어 도자기가 발달했다고 한다. 이곳의 중견작가들은 전통도자 제작과정뿐만 아니라 색다른 방법을 활용한 참신한 작품을 연구하고 있습니다. 여주도예단지는 고품질의 도자기를 전시할 뿐만 아니라 방문객에게 예술 작품이 만들어지는 과정을 직접 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공합니다. 다양한 스타일의 도자기를 전시하는 개인 전시실이 60개 이상 있습니다. 매년 5월이면 방문객들이 즐길 수 있는 축제가 열린다.
