충주댐은 국내 최대 규모의 다목적 콘크리트댐으로 수자원 계획 및 관리, 홍수피해 예방, 전력생산 등의 역할을 담당하고 있습니다. 댐 주변에는 물전시관, 기념탑, 휴게소, 관광선 선착장 등 다양한 시설이 갖춰져 있다. 구조물은 높이 97.5m, 길이 447m이다. 주댐 아래에는 높이 21m, 길이 480.7m의 균형저수지댐이 있다.
