JEOLLABUK-DO WEATHER
* One of the Honam historical landscapes with an outstanding view *
Moaksan Mountain, 6km away from the intersection of the Honam Expressway, stands tall at 795.2m on the east side of the Gimje Plain, offering a panoramic view of the Honam Plain. It was designated as a provincial park in 1971, and the scenery is so outstanding that it is considered one of the four scenic spots of Honam, and there are many cultural assets such as national treasures and treasures. In particular, Geumsansa Temple, which was built in the first year of King Beopje of Baekje (599) and has about 10 major cultural assets, is located here, so you can see the splendid Buddhist art.

Beyond Moaksan Mountain, there are temples such as Daewonsa Temple and Suwangsa Temple on the southeastern slope, and Gwisinsa Temple to the west. Since the introduction of Buddhism's Maitreya ideology, it has spread around Mt. Moak in the Honam region. It has been considered the home of Maitreya faith since ancient times, and along with Jeungsangyo, it attracted attention as a site for various new religious groups in the 30s and 40s. It is said that there were as many as 80 hermitages at the foot of Moaksan Mountain, including temples such as Daewonsa Temple, Gwisinsa Temple, and Suwangsa Temple.

* The lifeline of the Honam Plain and the Gimje Plain *
The water flowing from the top of Moak Mountain fills Gui Reservoir to the east, Geumpyeong Reservoir to the west, Andeok Reservoir to the south, and Bulseonje, Jungje, and Galmaje to the north, and serves as a lifeline that moistens the entire Gimje Plain and Honam Plain. The spring scenery of Moak Mountain is beautiful. When talking about the Honam Sagyeong, the first one is the spring scenery of Geumsansa Temple, the next is the summer scenery of Byeonsan Peninsula, the fall foliage of Naejangsan Mountain, and finally, the snowy scenery of Baekyangsa Temple.

* Moak Chungyeong, a place where azaleas and cherry blossoms are in full bloom *
In April, the cherry blossom tunnel from the parking lot to Iljumun Gate is spectacular. The azaleas are in full bloom, so you can climb to the top while viewing the flowers. This is why it has been called Moak Spring View (母岳春景) since ancient times because cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the entire mountain is lush with fresh green. The numerous hiking courses divided into various branches, each with its own unique scenery and hermitages containing folk beliefs, evoke a sense of mystery. When you climb to the top, the Gimje Plain and Mangyeong River come into view, Jeonju is visible to the east, Naejangsan Mountain to the south, and Byeonsan Peninsula to the west are visible in the distance.
