八達門は華城の南門であり、その名は「四方八方に通じる道に開く門」という意味です。華城の 4 つの門のうち、北門と南門はより大きく、壮麗です。門には国王の駕籠が通れるほどの入り口があり、入り口の上には櫓が設置されています。門の外側にはオンソンと呼ばれる三日月形の防護壁があります。
全国各地にある瓔城の中でも、八達門の瓔城は規模と形態が際立っています。八達門の望楼に見られる寄棟屋根と装飾は城郭の望楼に似ており、朝鮮時代後期の望楼建築を代表するものとして認識されています。 |
