조무락계곡은 북면 성룡산과 북면 정목리, 북면 화악산 중봉봉 사이를 흐르는 강이다.
두 산에서 흘러나온 물은 조무락골로 흘러든다. 조무락계곡과 도마천(삼팔교와 국망봉에서 출발)이 가평천으로 흘러든다. 새들이 노래하고 춤추는 모습을 지켜본다는 뜻의 계곡 이름으로, 작은 손으로 무엇인가를 만지는 모양을 뜻하는 '조물조물'이라는 말이 생각난다. |
