제3땅굴은 1978년 한국에 의해 발견되었습니다. 길이 1,635m, x_폭 2m, x_높이 2m가 넘으며 서울에서 52km 떨어져 있습니다. 시간당 약 3만명의 군인이 터널을 통과할 수 있는 것으로 추산된다. 규모는 제2땅굴과 비슷하지만, 침입 도구로서는 제1, 2땅굴보다 더 위협적일 것으로 생각됐다. 임진각에서 서남쪽으로 4km, 통일촌에서 3.5km 떨어져 있으며, 서울에서 차로 약 45분 거리에 있다.
