수원향교는 1291년 화성 화산산 앞에 세워져 약 500년 동안 머물렀다. 1789년 화성 축성으로 지금의 위치로 옮겨졌다. 이동 중에 원래의 목재 중 일부가 물에 노출되어 썩기 시작했습니다. 이 부분은 1795년에 수리되었으며 목재 구조물이 더 이상 손상되지 않도록 노력했습니다.
현재 학교는 다양한 홀, 문, 파빌리온으로 구성되어 있습니다. 경기도 문화재 제1호로 등록되어 있으며, 매년 여름 지역 학생들을 위한 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. |
