소백산국립공원은 1987년 12월 제18호 국립공원으로 지정됐다. 소백산국립공원은 봄에는 야생화와 철쭉, 겨울에는 설경이 특징이다. 산은 3개의 성과 4개의 도시와 접해 있다. 명소로는 다양한 봉우리, 사원, 폭포가 있습니다. 특히 철쭉이 만개하고 천연숲터널이 형성되는 5월에는 특히 인기가 높다. 비로봉은 일년 중 6개월간 눈으로 덮여 있어 한국의 알프스라 불린다.
