447기의 고인돌이 가장 많이 밀집된 지역 중 하나는 전라북도 고창군에 있는 고창 고인돌 유적이다. 고창 고인돌 유적은 화순, 강화보다 더 많은 고인돌을 보유하고 있으며 다양한 모양과 크기의 고인돌을 자랑한다. 고창과 강화, 화순의 고인돌은 이 지역이 청동기시대부터 사람이 살았다는 증거이다. 고창 고인돌 유적은 2000년 11월 29일 유네스코에 공식 등록되었다.
