토지문학제는 박경리 작가의 한국 역사소설 『토지』의 무대가 된 하동군에서 매년 개최됩니다. 1897년 동학혁명부터 1945년 해방까지 한국의 현대사를 그린 소설 『토지』를 기리는 축제로, 이제 국내 대표 문학축제 중 하나로 자리 잡았다.
