約善亭位於山谷中，下方有清澈的溪水流過。亭子旁邊有一塊大石頭，上面刻著「約善南」兩個字。統一新羅時期，這裡曾有一座小隱士院，也就是現在的儒聖亭。道雲和淨孝僧侶經常光顧該隱居處，他們在沙子山山麓創建了興寧禪院，傳授佛教的價值觀和原則。如今，亭旁有一座小石塔和一尊佛坐像。
