约善亭位于山谷中，下面有清澈的溪水流过。亭子旁边有一块大石头，上面刻着“约善南”两个字。统一新罗时期，这里曾有一座小隐士院，也就是现在的儒圣亭。道云和净孝僧侣经常光顾该隐居处，他们在沙子山山麓创建了兴宁禅院，传授佛教的价值观和原则。如今，亭旁有一座小石塔和一尊佛坐像。
