江華島位於西海岸，是韓國第五大島。 1970年，隨著江華橋的修建，該島與大陸相連。另一座較大的橋樑江華大橋建於 1997 年，使得從首爾和仁川地區前往江華島變得比以往任何時候都更加容易。該島是位於南部海岸馬尼山山頂的禪聖壇的所在地。據說這裡是檀君王鑑祭天的地方。江華島上另一個值得關注的重要項目是石墓群，這是聯合國教科文組織認可的世界遺產。
