江华岛位于西海岸，是韩国第五大岛。 1970年，随着江华桥的修建，该岛与大陆相连。另一座较大的桥梁江华大桥建于 1997 年，使得从首尔和仁川地区前往江华岛变得比以往任何时候都更加容易。该岛是位于南部海岸马尼山山顶的禅圣坛的所在地。据说这里是檀君王鉴祭天的地方。江华岛上另一个值得关注的重要项目是石墓群，这是联合国教科文组织认可的世界遗产。
