保光寺は坡州市の高霊山の麓に位置する伝統的な寺院です。西暦 894 年、新羅時代に真聖王后の命により道成国寺が建立しました。当時は隠れた国宝であり、漢江北側に位置する六大寺院の 1 つと考えられていました。院は壬辰倭乱で一度破壊されましたが、1622年にソルミ僧侶と徳仁僧侶によって再建されました。 1667年、慈眼和尚と石蓮和尚は大雄宝殿と観音殿を再建した。
