市名の由来は「鳥が静かに住む場所」という意味の「ジョアン」。南楊州市鳥安面は2010年に首都圏初のスローシティに指定された。市内には、八堂から大成里を通って楊平までを結ぶ南漢江岸沿いによく舗装された自転車道路があります。この都市には、雲吉山駅から出発し、馬津山城と水宗寺を通過して松村独立公園に到着するスロー シティ トレイルもあります。
