草島位於麗水西南方77公里處，周圍有大大小小的島嶼。島上中央桑山峰周圍有三個小漁村。該島以其山頂的日落景色以及退潮時金幕村和沿海木島之間的海水分離而聞名。島上有兩個海灘，其中正江海灘是家庭度假的熱門地點。每天只有一班客輪往返於麗水和草島之間。還有前往附近島嶼的遊船之旅，這是過夜客人的熱門活動。
