廣德寺據說是新羅時期僧侶紫藏律寺於 637 年創建的，興德王時期（832 年）進行了整修。該寺位於與牙山市、天安市接壤的光德山東南部、太華山西南側。在日本入侵之前，它是忠清和京畿地區最大的寺廟。然而，在日本侵略期間被燒毀，主要建築如大雄殿、明佛殿和天佛殿與其他原有設施相比相對較新。
