广德寺据说是新罗时期僧人紫藏律寺于 637 年创建的，兴德王时期（832 年）进行了整修。该寺位于与牙山市、天安市接壤的光德山东南部、太华山西南侧。在日本入侵之前，它是忠清和京畿地区最大的寺庙。然而，在日本侵略期间被烧毁，主要建筑如大雄殿、明佛殿和天佛殿与其他原有设施相比相对较新。
