忠州中央塔公園には、南漢江の美しい景色を望む塔平里の七重石塔 (国宝) があります。石塔は統一新羅時代に建てられ、当時最大の石塔でした。国の真ん中に位置するため、中央塔（中央塔は韓国語で中央を意味する）と呼ばれました。塔の周囲は彫刻公園として整備され、全国の芸術家による26点の作品が展示された。
