光州湖生態公園是光州湖周圍的一個大型公園，分為多個主題區。公園面積184,948平方米，設有自然觀測中心、生態體驗中心、草地廣場、濕地等。公園距離光州市中心僅 30 分鐘路程，自 2006 年 3 月開放以來一直是當地人喜愛的休憩場所。花區內生長著杜鵑花、連翹、笑臉薔薇、玫瑰、杜鵑花、繡球花等17萬多種野花。遊客還可以欣賞雪鈴花、木瓜、梧桐、楓樹、水杉等3000多種樹木的美景。許多鳥類在濕地地區築巢，提供了觀看鳥類孵化和成長的機會。
