光州湖生态公园是光州湖周围的一个大型公园，分为多个主题区。公园面积184,948平方米，设有自然观测中心、生态体验中心、草地广场、湿地等。该公园距离光州市中心仅 30 分钟路程，自 2006 年 3 月开放以来一直是当地人喜爱的休憩场所。从春季到秋季，游客可以看到自然环境中生长的各种植物。花区内生长着杜鹃花、连翘、笑脸蔷薇、玫瑰、杜鹃花、绣球花等17万多种野花。游客还可以欣赏雪铃花、木瓜、梧桐、枫树、水杉等3000多种树木的美景。许多鸟类在湿地地区筑巢，提供了观看鸟类孵化和成长的机会。
