安眠島距離泰安島 30 公里，是韓國第六大島，一座 1970 年建成的 200 公尺長的橋樑將安眠島與泰安郡連接起來。在朝鮮王朝時期，為了方便稅收運輸，切斷了安面邑昌吉里和南面詩濃里之間的交通，從而將與南面相連的半島孤立起來。島上的海岸線分佈約14個海灘以及茂盛的松樹，是安眠邑的象徵。島上還擁有安眠島自然林和莫甘州林（天然紀念物第138號）。
