Description of art | “The Presentation” (2006), a work from his mid-2000s series of the same title, consists of a granite stone cut in the shape of a flat, wide hemisphere, the round side on the ground, and a pine tree planted at the center of the furrow created inside. In the work, the non-living existence and living one, or dead granite and continuously growing pine tree confront each other. In this confrontation, the viewers reexamine the intrinsic features of conflicting things. As the work changes with the growth of the tree, viewers can build a new relationship every time they encounter it. Allowing viewers to focus on nature, the piece clearly demonstrates the sculptor’s perspective on nature: Letting nature as it is. | ||||||
