昌義門通常被稱為紫霞門。它是朝鮮王朝時期圍繞漢陽（首爾）城牆的北方四個小城門之一。四大大門之一的肅靖門關閉後，昌義門成為最受歡迎的北門。因此，人們又稱昌義門為北門。它是四個小門中唯一仍保持原始狀態的門。雖然小，差不多50m吧？從尺寸上看，它看起來非常堅固、堅固。四個小門中的另一個門東小門裝飾著一隻鳳凰，而昌義門的椽子上裝飾著一隻木雞。木雞背後的原因是人們認為雞是蜈蚣的剋星。人們相信安裝木雞對於克服蜈蚣的邪氣很重要。
