市廳前的首爾廣場是1919年3月1日（四一）獨立運動和1987年6月民主運動舉行的歷史遺址。這裡也是數萬名韓國球迷聚集觀看2002年世界盃比賽的著名場地。首爾廣場位於市中心，周圍有德壽宮等許多歷史景點，已成為首爾的代表性景點。
