新西島是古群山島群 24 個島嶼中最大的一個，位於山脈市西南 50 公里處。最高點是西北側的大嶽山（187公尺），東南側有新池山（142公尺）。村民多從事漁業，捕撈蝦、鯷魚、帶魚和鯖魚。農民傾向於種植稻米、大麥、地瓜、辣椒、豌豆等。客人可以開車抵達該島，並可進行泥灘和釣魚等各種活動。
