楸子岛距济州岛约 45 公里，距朝鲜半岛约 35 公里，由上楸子岛、下楸子岛、楸浦岛、横干岛 4 个有人居住的岛屿和 38 个无人居住的岛屿组成。记录显示，早在 1271 年高丽元宗统治时期就有人们居住在这些岛屿上，当时这些岛屿被称为呼丰岛，是济州岛和大陆之间航行的船只的安全港。朝鲜时代，由于核桃树林茂盛，全罗南道的方言中称为“楸子岛”，因此更名为楸子岛。岛屿周围的海洋是海钓的热门场所，而岛屿本身则可以沿着济州偶来小道路线欣赏到壮丽的自然景观。
