李章宇故居于1989年3月20日被指定为第一个光州民俗资料，是一座高级瓦顶房屋，有大门、储藏室、佣人宿舍、别馆和主楼。该建筑估计建于 1899 年，总体上是韩国建筑的坚固典范，完好地保存了其原始状态。这座历史建筑的L形主厅相当大，从左到右依次是一个木制阳台、一个小房间、一个大厅、一个正房、一个厨房和另一个小房间。房间的门是双开门，里面是推拉门，外面是铰链门。大厅还设有可以根据需要悬挂的隔断。
