아름다운 야경으로 유명한 용연못은 산골짜기 끝에 담수가 모인 후 짠 바닷물이 만나 형성된 연못이다. 연못은 바닥이 보이지 않을 정도로 깊어요. 연못을 가로지르는 목조 용연구름다리와 정자가 계곡 풍경과 조화를 이루고 있다. 전설에 따르면, 하늘로 올라간 용이 비처럼 쏟아져 연못이 생겼다고 한다. 용못이라는 이름도 서쪽으로 200m 떨어진 용두암(용두암)의 용이 이 연못에 놀러 온다고 해서 붙여진 이름이다.
