동곡계곡은 백운산의 4대 계곡 중 하나이다. 계곡은 광양쪽으로 열려 있고, 동천의 물은 광양만으로 흘러든다. 동곡계곡은 넓어서 교통이 편리하고, 명절 가족 나들이 장소로 제격이다. 정상과 서쪽 또아리봉 사이 한재고개를 따라 위치한 계곡으로 답곡십리라고도 불린다. 계곡의 길이는 10㎞에 달하며 특히 가을에는 울긋불긋한 단풍으로 둘러싸여 더욱 아름답습니다. 동곡계곡은 900여종의 다양한 식생이 서식하는 자연보호구역이다.
