완도항에서 약 12km 떨어진 곳에 위치한 보길도는 조선의 유명한 시인 윤선도가 제주도로 가다가 태풍을 피해 피난처를 찾다가 우연히 발견한 섬이다. 그는 10년 동안 섬에 머무르면서 세연정, 낙선재 등 25채의 건물을 지었다. 그의 가장 유명한 작품인 '어부사시사'도 이곳에서 집필되었습니다.
섬에는 세 개의 아름다운 해변이 있어 인기 있는 휴가지로 활용됩니다. 특히 최남단 예송리해수욕장은 1.4㎞에 달하는 자갈해안과 상록수림이 어우러져 아름다운 경관을 자랑하는 곳이다. |
