봉래폭포는 차별침식에 의해 3단으로 이루어진 높이 30m의 폭포이다. 낮은 두 층은 침식된 응집 암석에 의해 형성되었으며 가장 높은 층은 조면암입니다. 봉래폭포폭포는 울릉도의 주요 수원지로 사용된다. 관광객들은 봉래폭포 관리사무소와 폭포를 잇는 산책로, 시원한 바람이 뿜어져 나오는 자연바람구멍, 스트레스 해소를 위한 숲속쉼터 등을 즐길 수 있다. 방내폭포와 그 주변 지역은 자연경관으로 완벽할 뿐만 아니라, 풍부한 산림생태계와 지질학적 특징으로 인해 가치가 매우 높습니다.
