統営の海底トンネルは、1931 年から 1932 年まで 16 か月かけて建設されたアジア初の海底トンネルです。建設にあたっては、両端で海水を堰き止め、地下にトンネルを掘り、コンクリートで舗装した。長さ483メートル、幅5メートルのトンネルの入り口に刻まれた「龍文達梁」という韓国語は、「島と陸を結ぶ海底トンネルの入り口」を意味する。
