香雲園は、12 年間にわたってさまざまな植物や樹木を収集、植え、栽培した後、2003 年 4 月 28 日にオープンしました。庭園の面積は約20万㎡で、その半分はプロ・一般問わず教育目的に利用されています。ここには、約 4,500 種の植物遺伝資源に加えて、ミソンナム (Abeliophyllum distichumnakai) やエウリュアレ フェロックス ソールズベリーなど、少なくとも 15 種の希少または絶滅危惧種の植物が生息しています。
