ヤンニム歴史文化村は、100 年以上前に西洋の品物や思想が光州に初めて入ってきた地域にあります。そのため、この地区には伝統的な韓屋の家と西洋建築が融合したユニークなコレクションが残っています。光州の医学と教育の発展を促進したキリスト教宣教師の家もたくさんあります。ペンギン村などの一部の地域は、芸術と観光を促進するために壁画や屋外展示物で装飾され、地元の高齢者の生計を立てています。
