Jangneung
This is the tomb of posthumous King Wonjong(1580-1619) and Queen Inheon of the Gu clan (1578-1626).
Wonjong, the son of King Seonjo, was named Prince Jeongwon in 1587 and died in 1619.
When his eldest son, Prince Neungyang (King Injo), ascended the throne in 1623, he was posthumously
given the title of daewongun.
Queen Inheon, after marrying Prince Jeongwon in 1590, gave birth to three sons (King Injo, Prince Neungwon,
and Prince Neungchang). When King Injo ascended the throne in 1623, she was named Gyeungung and passed
away in 1626.
In 1632, King Injo's parents were posthumously named king and queen and their tomb was named Jangneung.
The burial mound is surrounded by retaining stones and when the tomb was elevated to the tomb of a king
or queen (reung/neung), stone status of civil and military officials and other figures were installed.
