The first cemetery was only 1,200 pyeong on a hill in Guam-dong in 1967, but with the launch of the civilian government, all citizens came together and promoted a full-scale sanctuary project. In March 1998, construction began on the 3.15 Sanctuary Park with a total site area of ​​43,390 pyeong. In June 2000, the 3.15 Memorial Tower and relief wall, symbolic sculptures selected through a public contest, were installed, and in December of the same year, the tombs of democratic martyrs were relocated. , the construction of the cemetery was completed. On August 1, 2002, the March 15 Sanctuary Park was promoted to the National March 15 Cemetery, and a completion ceremony was held in March 2003 to promote the holy spirit of sacrifice of patriots and provide a bird's eye view of the fierce democratic uprising. did.
