Cheontaesan Mountain (549.4m above sea level) is a famous mountain in Gangjin overlooking Gangjin Bay. This is a place with deep mountains, excellent views, and a beautiful hidden valley. To the left of Jeongsusa Temple, there is a dam built by Gangjin-gun in 1995, and there is a deep valley, so water is plentiful even during droughts, making it a place where many vacationers visit during the summer. If you follow the forest road from Sabang Dam, you will find Chodang Forest, which is well-maintained with oak trees and cypress trees.
The hiking course of Cheontaesan Mountain is simple and returns to the origin, and you can reach the summit by starting from Jeongsu Temple and hiking for about an hour along a trail covered with oak trees. Cheongwansan Mountain in Jangheung, which is considered one of the five famous mountains in the Honam region, reveals its majesty in the northeastern part, and the wide open area of ​​Daedeok-eup in Jangheung-gun to the south and the blue waves of Jangheung Bay are visible at a glance.
The road descending from the summit to the south has a relatively gentle slope and is not dangerous, but there is a lot of fallen oak leaves, so be careful as there is a risk of slipping.
The hike ends when you come down from the hiking trail and reach Jeongsu Temple through a forest road built in 1994 by Gangjin-gun.
Jeongsu Temple is said to be the headquarters of the Cheontae Order, and its main hall is designated as a provincially designated cultural asset. Not only can you easily see the Goryeo celadon kiln site nearby, but there is a celadon materials museum along the way, so it is recommended as a hiking course that also serves as a historical tour. In the valley where the mountain path and the forest road meet, flowers (Sangsahwa) turn red to welcome hikers, and it is said that there is an ice valley on the 8th ridge upstream of the valley where you can see ice even in summer.
