JEOLLANAM-DO WEATHER
Eokbulsan Mountain, located in the southeast of Jangheung-eup and overlooking the city, is relatively low at 518m in height, but its ridge is long and smooth, giving it the appearance of a beautiful woman walking with her skirt hanging down. At the top, where the old beacon fire tower was located, strangely shaped rocks are in perfect harmony, and it has become a symbol of Jangheung along with the Tamjingang River.

Daughter-in-Law Rock, which has an interesting legend, is in the shape of a woman carrying a child. It has the shape of a Buddhist monk praying with his palms together. If you actually get close, its grandeur seems to pierce the sky. The 200,000 pyeong cypress and bamboo forests are ideal for forest bathing and walking trails, making them perfect for morning hikers and the elderly. It is a mountain that people climb, and it is also a mountain that protects the health of the people of Jangheung. In particular, with the opening of the Astronomical Science Museum on the hillside, there is a 4-6m wide forest road up to the Astronomical Science Museum on the ridge of Part 5, and streetlights and sound systems have been installed, so anyone can climb up the mountain without any worries, day or night, as if they were taking a walk in the park. There is.

* Hiking Guide

If you go about 1.5km east from the Jangheung County Community Center (in front of the bus terminal), you will find the Sangseon Yaksu Peace Village. The first course starts at the parking lot of the Peace Mineral Spring and starts hiking along the forest road, the second course goes through the bamboo forest in front of the village entrance reservoir, the course starts next to Namdo University Jangheung Campus, and starts at the rice processing plant in Suyang-ri, Anyang-myeon. There is a course that does it. Most people use the first course, and in the summer, many choose the second course to enjoy the cool bamboo forest breeze. For Courses 1 and 2, if you follow the hiking trail toward the top, you will reach the Jangheung Astronomical Science Museum, which opened on July 7, 2006, where you can see celestial bodies such as constellations in the night sky. If you climb a little further, you will see the large pine tree (designated as a protected tree and symbolizing Eokbulsan Mountain). There is a place where a tree (200 years old) stands tall.

It is now withered due to a lightning strike during a typhoon in 2004, but this is the halfway point. People who climb Mt. Eokbul take a break here and then climb to the top or go back down. The course next to Namdo University is steeper and rougher than other gentle courses. Although it is not widely used, hikers who want a thrill sometimes choose this route. Even before you can wash away your mental fatigue with the phytocides from the cedar forest that grew straight from the start, it continues into a rough patch. After climbing the almost straight valley for about 10 minutes, you will see a huge rock that looks as if it is blocking your path and looking down. If you climb up the tattered road underneath the daughter-in-law rock, you will find the site of an old hermitage. Be careful because rock debris rolls around. If you climb a little further from here, you will come across a ridge path leading to the summit.
