* Mireuksan Mountain (Iksan), the mountain surrounding Mireuksa Temple Site *
Mireuksan Mountain is a 430m high mountain that spans Geumma-myeon, Gamgim-myeon, and Nangsan-myeon, about 8 ri north of Geumma. In the past, it was called Yonghwasan Mountain, including the low peak of about 350m high that continues to the east of Isan, but now it is called Yonghwasan Mountain. The northern area where Mireuksa Temple is located is called Mireuksan Mountain, and the remaining area is called Yonghwasan Mountain. Both Maitreya and Yonghwa are names related to Maitreya belief. Originally, it was called Yonghwasan Mountain, but when Mireuksa Temple was built, only the surrounding mountains were called Mireuksan Mountain. This mountain is formed by the stem of Cheonhosan Mountain crossing from east to west. It stands tall on a flat land overlooking the Hwangsan Plain to the north and the Honam Plain in the distance to the south. and flows into the west coast. The highest peak of this mountain is called Unjebong, and the slightly lower peak in front is called Janggunbong. On Janggunbong, there is a rock called Helmet Rock because it looks like a general wearing a helmet. In 'Yeoji Seungnam' Sancheonjo, Iksan-gun, there is a record that says, "Janggunbong is located on Yonghwasan Mountain. There is a hole dug in the rock to the south that can melt a couple of horses of oil, so this rock is called Deungjanam." appears not to refer to the Tugu Rock at the top of the current Janggunbong Mountain, but to the Turtle Rock at the southern foot of the mountain. There is a hole dug in Turtle Rock about 70cm wide and 50cm tall.

* Various historical experiences in Mireuksan Mountain *
Inside Mireuksan Mountain, including Mireuksa Temple, Sajaam Temple, Juksa Temple (no longer present; it was 100 paces west of Sajaam Rock), Baeksaengam Temple (no longer present; used to be 200 paces south of Sajaam Rock), Yeonghyeolsa Temple (no longer present; to the north of Baeksaam Rock) (was 1 ri away), Myeongjeokam (no longer present, was 200 paces east of Sajaam), Cheonjangam (now no longer available), Myeongjeokam (was 2 ri east of Sajaam), Simgoksa Temple (existing) , many temple sites remain, including Seokbulsa Temple, Taebongsa Temple, and Jangansa Temple Site, and judging from these, this mountain appears to have been the center of Buddhist literature in the region following the Baekje, Silla, and Goryeo dynasties. In addition, there is the site of Mireuksanseong Fortress, called Gijunseong, on the mountain, and there are several Baekje pottery sites on the midslope, showing that Baekje pottery, such as Samjok pottery, was fired here.
