It was founded by Ado Hwasang from Goguryeo in the first year of King Guisin of Baekje (420) in the early Three Kingdoms period. Gapsa Temple has been called Gyeryong Gapsa Temple, Gapsa Temple, Gapsa Temple, Gapsa Temple, and Gyeryongsa Temple, and is a famous temple that was one of the ten temples of the Hwaeom Order of Unified Silla.
