Palbongsan Mountain (361.5m) is spread out like a folding screen and rises steadily as if it is embracing nine villages. The name of the mountain is said to have originated from the fact that there are eight mountain peaks lined up in a row. Among the eight peaks, the highest peak is Peak 3, which is 362m high. The mountain scenery is beautiful, the clean air and open mountain scenery are spectacular, and it is suitable for relaxation and a 3-hour hiking course. Palbongsan Mountain in Hongcheon is so famous that in most cases, Palbongsan Mountain is clearly stated as “Seosan” in front. Additionally, this place has 9 peaks, excluding the smallest peak, and is called Palbongsan Mountain. There is a legend that every year at the end of December, that small peak cries that it was not included.
