If you look east from the top of Daegwallyeong, the watershed that separates the Yeongdong and Yeongseo regions, you can see Gangneung City and the East Sea at a glance, and a beautiful pine forest spreads out like a carpet beneath your feet, and within this is Daegwallyeong Natural Recreation Forest. As you go over the well-paved hill, you will notice a rare old road, and it is located near the old Daegwallyeong road. It was built at the northern foot of Jewangsan Mountain, right above Sampoam Recreation Area, a favorite place for Gangneung citizens.
Daegwallyeong Forest is the best pine forest in Korea, retaining its ancient grandeur. The harmonious combination of various convenience facilities and the pine forest makes it an optimal resting place for families to relax and enjoy forest bathing. Gangneung City is nearby, so you can use this as a base to tour historical sites near Gangneung, such as Gyeongpodae and Ojukheon, and enjoy the seascape. On a clear day, the dark night view is dazzling. The recreation forest is divided into two districts: the left valley contains training facilities for groups, and the right valley contains recreational facilities for families. |

Admission fee: Adults (19 to 64 years old) - Individual 1,000 won / Group (20 or more people) 800 won
Youth (13 to 18 years old) - Individual 600 won / Group 500 won
Children (7 to 12 years old) - Individual 300 won / Group 200 won
※ Entrance fee is waived during the winter season (December to March) (including when using the campsite. However, admission fee is collected for natural recreation forests located on Jeju Island)

- People who regularly visit temples within the natural recreation forest
- A person similar to subparagraphs 1 to 15 and notified by the Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service as requiring exemption from the entrance fee
- Vietnam War veterans and their spouses
- Families providing certificates of ‘prestigious family completing military service’
- Entrance fee exemption during the winter season (December to March). State-owned natural recreation forests (Jeolmul, Seogwipo) are excluded from the winter admission fee exemption.
