It is a 4km long valley from Hoamso under Dutasan Mountain and Cheongoksan Mountain to Yongchu Falls. The name ‘Mureung Valley’ originated from the meaning of being as beautiful as Mureungdowon where immortals live, and the history of designation as a national tourist site supports the valley’s spectacular scenery. There are various things to see in the valley, including Mureungbanseok, Seonnyeotang, Yongchu Falls, and Ssang Falls. Mureungbanseok is a rock so large that about 1,000 people can sit on it. The numerous writings carved on the bedrock were left behind by old poets and scholars who visited the valley. Yang Sa-eon, who is considered one of the four great calligraphers of the Joseon Dynasty, expressed the mysterious scenery of the valley with the phrase, “A paradise in this world where immortals roamed.” At the end of the valley is Yongchu Falls, which falls in three stages, and Ssang Falls, where two waterfalls face each other. Mureung Valley Healing Campground is a camping site built in a pine forest at the entrance to the Mureung Valley tourist site. It is divided into two sites, the 1st Healing Campground and the 2nd Healing Campground, and each campsite has a deck of approximately 30 sides. It is also fully equipped with a free Wi-Fi zone, restroom, shower room, kitchen, and electrical facilities. Camping in nature, like the poets of old who were intoxicated by the beautiful scenery of Mureung Valley, is basic, but climbing Mt. Duta and Mt. Cheongok is optional. The campsite is closed from November to March to prevent freezing.
