The four inner mountains surrounding the Seoul Basin are Bukaksan, Namsan, Naksan, and Inwangsan. The highest among them is Bukaksan Mountain in the north, which is a peak of the southern ridge of Bukhansan Mountain. It rises north of Gyeongbokgung Palace and is also called Baekaksan Mountain. The fortress wall is preserved along the ridge, and Changuimun (彰義門), also known as Jahamun (紫霞門), one of the four small gates (四小門), is located in the corner between the western foot of the mountain and Inwangsan Mountain, making it easily connected to the city center. do. Bugak Skyway, which runs from Changuimun Gate to Arirang Pass in Jeongneung, is a tourist road connecting Changuimun Gate, Octagonal Pavilion, and a swimming pool. It is a scenic spot with a great view of the dense forest and Seoul cityscape. Bugak Skyway and Samcheong Park at the foot of the southeastern mountain provide good places to rest.

After the January 21 incident in 1968, the northern side of Bugaksan Mountain, behind the Blue House, where access to citizens was restricted, was created as a circumference trail for 52 years. It will be open to the public for the first time. Starting from Ansan in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, you can now hike the section that leads to Inwangsan Mountain, Bukaksan Mountain, and Bukhansan Mountain. Additionally, the southern side of Bukaksan Mountain is scheduled to open in the first half of 2022.
