If you stand at the Unification Observatory, located 70 meters above sea level where the Armistice Line and the Southern Limit Line meet, you can see Guseonbong Peak and Haegeumgang River in close proximity, and on clear days, you can see Oknyebong Peak, Chaehabong Peak, and Ilchulbong Peak. The front-line guard posts facing each other across the armistice fence beneath one's feet give a sense of tension between North and South Korea. This is a representative tourist attraction in Goseong, visited by more than 1.5 million tourists annually. It is home to religious facilities such as the Virgin Mary, Maitreya Buddha, and Jeonjeon Iron Tower, as well as armored vehicles, tanks, and airplanes for displaced people who remember their descendants and families left behind in North Korea and for those who wish for unification. There are exhibits for security education. Below your feet, you can see Geumgangsan overland tourism taking place on the North-South connecting road of the Donghae Line, which opened in December 2004.
