조선시대 궁궐 수문장은 경복궁의 정문은 물론 흥인지문, 숭례문 등 성의 정문을 지키는 수문장이었다. 왕실 수비대는 교대로 근무하며 광화문을 열고 닫는 일을 담당했습니다. 1469년 왕실근위제도가 시행되기 이전에는 궁궐의 문은 중앙군 병사들에 의해 보호되었다. 경복궁과 광화문 일대에서 열리는 궁궐 수문장 교대식은 사료를 바탕으로 복식, 무기 등을 재현해 조선시대 수문장 교대식을 재현한다.
